Biotechnology Biotechnology: The Brave New World The reason why I choose biotechnology for a subject to do my paper on is because I have a strong interest in the subject matter. When I was in high school I read a book called “Brave New World,” by Aldous Huxley. It was written in 1931. It was a story about a world controlled by biotechnology. Everyone was a clone and their standing in society was dependent on what they were breed for. It was a perfectly formed society. It was at least until the one thing that kept the lower class citizens happy ran out. Now that cloning has become a reality some people think the we are about to enter a “Brave New World.” A world in which genetically engineered clones will be the only thing that exists. That is one of the reasons why biotechnology has become one of the most popular topics in society today. Even Hollywood has taken advantage of this with blockbuster movies like “Jurassic Park.” In this movie a genetics company named InGen recreates dinosaurs through fossilized DNA.
