Distinctive Aging Disorders
When humans age the body start to go through many changes, they might feel stiffer and find it difficult to move around. The hair changes color, wrinkles appear on the face and body, and the person may suffer from diseases that normally surface when growing old. Other than the typical aging process that humans go through, there are rare disorders that causes a person to age faster than they are suppose to. One disease is called Progeria and the other is Werner Syndrome. Progeria is a childhood disease and Werner Syndrome is known as a young adult syndrome (Fujiwara et. al. 229). Both disorders cause a patients body to wear out in a short period of time (Drotar 68). These are two distinctly different disorders; a major clinical difference is that the onset of Progeria occurs within the first decade of life whereas the first evidence of Werner Syndrome appears in adolescence (Scientific America 1).
Professor David Gems at the University of Missouri at Columbia has this viewpoint about distinctive again disorders:
