Torah And Effects On Society The Torah is a religious book composed of the first five books of the bible. Those five books are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. These books are mainly about the different covenants God had made with different people such as Abraham and Moses, and in outlines the six hundred and thirteen commandments god gave to Moses on Mt. Sinai. In today’s society many of these concepts still play a roll in social and moral thoughts and actions in the United States. The two main covenants God made were with Abraham and Moses. With the exception of three parts of the covenant none of the rules are still practiced today. The three parts, two from the covenant with Moses and one from Abraham, are stay pure, obey the six hundred and thirteen commandments, and males eight days old are to be circumcised. They do still partially follow a few of the others such as a living unique way of life. Of all of the six hundred and thirteen commandments the first ten are the most-well known and the most closely followed. They are 1. Have no other Gods. 2. Do not use the lord’s name in vein. 3.
