Puritanism Puritanism In the late 16th century, breaking away from pratice and ritual that was focused on in England, the Puritans sought reform. Which brought succession in America but was and eventual failure in England. Puritans sought to purify and reform between Roman Cathlosim and Protestant. They soon separated from the Church of England and sailed to America. Their establishment of Puritanism in New England was very successful. Puritans had a very strong commitment to worship, morality, and trying to keep the commandments of God. Puritan life was very self-discipline. Since and absolute assurance of eternity wasn’t certain they sought out a very high spiritual life.
