Islam/Buddhism Buddhism Buddhism is the name attributed to an intricate system of beliefs developed around the teachings of a single man known as Siddharta Gautama Buddha. It was developed around 560 B.C. and is the main belief system of those in Southeast Asia. This religion is based on Buddha’s personal experience of enlightenment, which resulted after he ventured outside the palace walls from which he lived and saw how life really was. It was after his enlightenment that he discovered the Four Noble Truths, which are the foundation for all forms of Buddhists philosophy. 1. Knowledge of suffering. 2. Source of suffering. 3. Removal of suffering. 4. The way to the removal. The Eightfold Path also comes from Buddha, which teaches to practice moderation. If followed one may achieve true enlightenment, or nirvana. Nirvana is reaching Brahma in one lifetime. Brahma was believed to be the creator god. Buddha believed that if you lived a perfect life you would not have to continue in the samsara. The basic way to do this is the Eight Fold Path, which is as follows: 1. Right knowledge. 2. Right attitude. 3. Right speech. 4. Right action. 5. Right living. 6. Right effort. 7. Right mindfulness. 8. Right allah, islam, right, one, religion, god, nirvana, mohammad, true, qur’an, life, suffering, path, mankind, lifetime, five, faith, enlightenment, day, creator, called, buddha, believed, beliefs, around, achieve, world, within, way, through, system, revealed, reaching, prophet, profession
