Edith Stine St. Edith Stein Dr. Diane Traflett had a wonderful opportunity to take a trip through Edith Stein's life this past summer. She went to Edith's homeland and got a good idea of what it must have been like to grow up in the conditions that Edith was faced with. When walking through Auschwitz it really hit her and she realized when looking at Edith's grave that she is standing on the land that was ounce soaked with blood. She couldn't help but notice how beautiful the white house is, she was overtaken with the beauty of it all. She then realized that that this place was ounce filled with so many lies and this beautiful meadow she is standing on was ounce a massive grave for all these hopeless Jews. As she felt all this emotion she began to pray both for Edith and all of the Jews whose lives were ended on the very ground she was now walking on. St. Edith Stein's was born in Germany in 1891. Her father died when she was only two year old. So Edith grew up to have a close relationship with her mother.
