The Golden Rule The Golden Rule I remember when I walked into my kindergarten class and saw this sign on the wall in red and yellow letters: DO UNTO OTHERS, AS YOU WOULD WANT THEM TO DO UNTO YOU. I didn’t know that such few words had such an enormous meaning. After finding out what it meant, I knew this saying would have a big effect on me for the rest of my life. Everyday after saying the pledge of allegiance, the class would look over the blackboard and say The Golden Rule out loud. I really never knew what it meant; it seemed like everyone else knew what it meant but me. I was going to ask the question to someone to see if they knew what it meant. Later on during that particular day when the classes went outside, I asked this girl if she understood what the rule meant. She told me that it means think about what you are doing to someone before you do it and if you think it’s wrong don’t do it if you don’t want it done to you. I sat down at the top of the sliding board and thought about it. I said to rule, knew, told, meant, learned, about, think, same, life, saying, right, people, know, years, wrong, things, rest, out, just, done, because, way, time, thought, thing, tell, teacher, taught, something, remember, red, mother, golden, girl
