Catholicism and Mary Catholicism and Mary Some people believe that Catholics give way to much honor to Mary. The basic areas were Mary is talked about is her Perpetual Virginity, her being The Mother of God, her Immaculate Conception, and Assumption. Perpetual Virginity is the idea that Mary didn’t have any other children after Jesus, so that the womb that held Christ would stay clean. Some people contest Mary’s virginity by referring to the scripture that speaks of “Brethren of the Lord” this does not necessary mean that Mary had children with Joseph, if he was a widower he could have previously had children which mean Jesus had stepbrother. Or perhaps the word brethren means cousin. As for Mary being the Mother of God, that hard to not believe. Mary was undisputedly the mother of Jesus, and Jesus being the Son and a part of his Father God. Catholics believe Mary had a Immaculate conception meaning she didn’t need a savior.
