Euthanasia 1. Several historical developments and/or individuals have contributed and shaped the modern language of religion. Many individuals have philoshphies and theories as to what religion is created for and what the tendencies of humans have from religion. Charles Darwin was a Christian biologist whose study led to conclude that all living things developed from a simple cell life forms through a process of descent with modification, called evolution. Darwin was attacked as a non-believer, also faced the responses of scientific creationism, and attacks from the catholic church, that stated all humans come from parents. Darwin faced major attacks against his reputation, but contributed to the understanding of religion as a whole. On the Ethological end, Conrad Lorenz contributed with his behavioral interpretation of religion. “ A large part of our purpose, then, must be to identify and understand the intentions that lie behind religious behavior,” (Cunningham et al p.4.) Lorenz was set out to do just this. He believed that behavioral patterns are biologically “imprinted.” Certain ideas are so trendy or so common that they have become “imprinted,” and therefore, the reason we do those things.
