Perhaps Genesis was written to give insight into some of life’s questions. Genesis is the first book of the Old Testament and serves as an essential introduction to the entire Bible, or the “book of beginnings”. From the excerpt given in the text, it is difficult to ascertain the author of the book. However, although the identity of the author is not mentioned in the book, from outside sources, historians believe that Moses himself wrote the book along with the other four books of the Pentateuch. The book was written for the Hebrew people. It records the beginnings of human history, the origin of the Hebrew people, the creation of man and God’s covenant with His people.
