Prison Life Introduction The existence of a prison is based on the need to remove so called menaces to society from the general public. To keep them in the custody of the state and under a controlled environment for a certain amount of time, which varies depending upon the circumstances of their confinement. I came up this definition with relative ease. I believe the reason for this is that the prison falls under a social stigma where it’s sole purpose is to lock up criminals and that’s it. The majority of people have a view on prison that simply ends with a criminal being sentenced to prison time, what happens to a so called criminal after that is cared about by a very small number of people. I think this is a major issue that society has to direct more focus towards. Although some prisoners may be vile uncontrollable who are beyond rehabilitation, the opposite stands true for many prisoners as well. All prisoners whether ruthless or just mislead still have the right to life.
