Self Esteem Self-Esteem Project Taylor and Lou Ann both have their high and low points in the story, but that is normal for a person. Their ups and downs are clearly shown and represent how a person changes with time. Your self-esteem is most likely always changing, but you may not always notice it, but others do. You are at your best when self-esteem is high and you trust and believe in yourself. Low self-esteem can become a major problem for people because they sometimes don’t care about themselves and others. As we read through the book, we see that Lou Ann and Taylor’s self-esteem is constantly changing at different paces. As they are very different people, Lou Ann and Taylor both share good and bad times. If you look closely into the text, some of these times are almost identical. In the beginning of the story, they both are starting a new life, Taylor being away from home and on her own, and Lou Ann without her husband. I think these events gave them a higher self esteem because they both are going to get a new start.
