The Tragic Hero Though Aeneas is called a coward, he has proven himself heroic. Thus, proving his critics wrong. First of all, Aeneas exhibits amazing loyalty to his family. For instance, when he finally sees his family, he holds his father and holds his son’s hand. Yet, later when his wife is missing, Aeneas “turns back alone into the city” seeking his wife. Aeneas can be seen on his “endless quest form door to door” for his wife. His search was eventually put to a halt when his wife’s ghost appeared to tell him that she was dead and to go on. Thus, Aeneas would have not ceased his search, if the ghost had not appeared.
