Odyssey Ancient Greeks and Family Values In the days of the ancient Greeks there were many things in their way of life that different from ours. Today it seems that morals, family values, and marriage are not much of a concern in todays lifestyle. The Greeks on the other hand, valued very highly things such as: social class, family and kinship, and marriage. These were the basic things to live by in ancient Greece, and are shown very strongly in their history. Social- Pertaining to a society; living in communities. This is the definition of the work social. When adding the word class to it, it has a different yet similar meaning. The term social class refers the to a group of people that are bound together by a certain characteristic or trait. These social classes when talking about a few of them living together form a hierarchy. This means that one social class is higher up on the scale than another one. This is true in the ancient Greek society. In the Athenian society, all citizens that lived in Athens had the right and duty of governing their city.
