The Life And Times Of The Piano Forte
Pianos have not always been pianos. That sentence may sound somewhat strange possibly even ridiculous, but since their debut in history around three hundred years ago pianos have undergone a gamut of changes. One could even say that they have put through a metamorphosis. When pianos were first introduced they were nothing of what they are today, or even what they were one hundred fifty years ago for that matter. Most people of the present would not recognize early primitive pianos, and one of the only ways people would identify one of these early music machines, as a piano would be its keys. These keys are really the only thing early pianos shares with modern day pianos.
Over the years many people, or visionaries, have tinkered with design, shape, materials, and how a piano functions, but probably the most important part of the piano that people have toyed with is the way that a piano is played. There have been many composers since the introduction of the piano, but three of the most important were Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig Van Beethoven.
