Breaking Barriers One of the most powerful forces of communication in the world today, if not the most powerful, is music. Music has the ability to transcend barriers like nothing else. Music has a way to carry a message, spark a memory, tell a story and even evoke ones emotions. Music is a common ground for men and women, blacks and whites, Americans and Non-Americans. Unquestionably, music is universal and plays a part in all our lives, as well as in businesses and society. Whether you study music like myself, or just enjoy listening to it, you can usually relate to or understand the overall message of the song. A lot of people tend to listen to music that reflects how they feel, whether it’s about a certain subject or just their demeanor at that particular time. Music can be a very positive thing for all of us. For me in particular, the Dave Matthews Band has opened my eyes to a lot of positive things. One lyric that I genuinely believe in is “The future is no place to place your better days” from the song “Cry Freedom”.
