Work Place Stress Introduction It seems as though in everyday life we encounter stress. The stresses that are encountered daily are most likely the result of our jobs. According to the article Employer-sponsored Programs Try to Keep Workplace Stress in Check, by J. Krivyanski, “A study by Northwestern National Life found one-fourth of all employees view their jobs as the number one stressor in their lives.” With employee views like these, employers are attempting to create better work environments. In the same article by Krivyanski, he states “Nearly one half of large companies in the United States have started to provide some type of stress management programs for their work forces.” Obviously, the need is there. With recent advances in technology stress levels have increased. This is said to be due to being able to instantly reach someone. Most of us carry cell phones or pagers. Krivyanski also states, “If a company chooses not to deal with the problem of workplace stress, the effects can be costly and present a real health risk. This increase in stress has also lead to increases in unethical behavior.
