Toleration Of Differing Opinions The world we live in is a far cry from a perfect world, where everyone gets along, everyone has the same opinions, and everyone can freely practice their lives as they wish. Our world is full of differing opinions, protests, petitions, lawmakers, armies, and so forth. But I think this diversity is what makes our world worth living in. I once heard a marriage counselor (not mine!) voice the following, “People will argue, they must argue for the survival of the relationship, for if both partners have the same ideas on all subjects then we only need one of them.” Diversity, conflict, and disagreements are what help paint the picture that is our society. Could I stand here and tell you ways I think we could work to make a perfect society, in which everyone gets along and everyone is happy with one another' Sure, I could. But I think that is an impossibility. Everyone will never get along with everyone. The world will never be perfect.
