Homosexual Marriage In regard to ongoing debates about the issue of legalizing same sex marriages, I would like to offer you my opinion on the matter. I feel that this issue is one of great importance, as it deals with a very controversial topic, of which little is known. Most of my opinions are based on the fact that there is so little known about homosexuality and its roots. People should be given the right to live their lives however they please, whether that involves living with the opposite sex, or with the same sex. Thomas Jefferson states in the Declaration of Independence, “…We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Therefore what makes homosexuals any different than the people that Jefferson talked about at the founding of our country' Although same-sex marriages are seen as taboo in today’s culture, I believe that people should have the right to express their lifestyles and life choices in whatever manner they please, whether in civil union or marriage.
