How I Feel About Homosexuality The short story we were assigned to read is the perfect display of what homosexual adolescents experience. This short story by Andrew Sullivan, an Oxford University graduate, illustrates the life of a gay adolescent. Sullivan’s purpose is to make us aware of what he and other young gays experience. He uses vivid examples and stories to give the reader an inside look into homosexuality. He shows us that homosexuals are not that much different than heterosexuals. For example, he describes being a gay teen in an all male locker room, “In front of me, he took off his shirt, an unknowingly, slowly, erotically stripped.” He felt it would be in his best interest to keep his feelings and emotions to himself. I respect the way he shows how careful he had to be in an everyday environment. His intentions are to educate. He’s not trying to change anyone’s mind on homosexuality. He’s only trying to show what he experiences on a daily basis. I admire the way he just tells his story. When I read this story a lot of different emotions arose in me. I’d like to think that my views on homosexuality are open. As a young black think, story, reading, homosexuals, homosexuality, gay, don’t, way, say, out, lifestyle, learned, homosexual, front, friends, different, can’t, being, agree, young, worth, very, value, trying, time, therefore, sullivan, shows, short, realize, read, people, others, open, much, mine
