History Gender and Society In this essay I will discuss the differences between the two sexes. I will also discuss each of their traits, masculinity and femininity. There are major differences between the two sexes. The first difference is that women tend to be more sensitive of the two. Women like to over-analyze the situation, whereas men like to either settle the situation the easiest way or they would just like to forget about it. Gilligan stated in her essay that “Boys play more often in large and age-heterogeneous groups; they play competitive games more often, and their games last longer than girls games”(843). Gilligans reason for this was that boys could solve their disputes in the course of the game more effectively than girls could. Another difference between the two is that men like to hide their feelings and women like to express their emotions. Women are also more caring and nurturing towards other individuals, whereas men tend to put themselves first and then the feelings of other people second. This is why you see more female nurses than male nurses.
