Racial Discrimination Act From as early to the arrival of foreign migrants in the 1850’s gold rush, racial discrimination has always been an ongoing and increasing issue faced migrants all over the world. To abolish any further problems arising from racial discrimination, the Racial Discrimination Act was established in 1975 in order to ensure that everyone was treated equally. Regardless of their nationality, race, colour, background and ethnicity, this act clearly states that racial discrimination is unlawful in Australia.
