World Wars Wars of the 20th Century Wars of the 20th century were fought for many reasons. Some for land, some for political power, and some to save a country from being overran. Wars are fought on many fronts. These can include terrain’s such as jungle, island, forests, cities, deserts, and in some cases even arctic climates. In the following paragraphs you will read about World War II (WWII), the Vietnam War, and Operation Desert Storm. They were fought for different reasons, but in the end it only comes down to one thing, the more powerful will emerge. World War II started off because of Adolf Hitler’s need for power and hunger for more land. It started with him taking over Austria, then Czechoslovakia, and onto Poland. When Poland was attacked France and Great Britain declared war on Germany. This however led to France, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Norway being overran by the nazis by 1940. Great Britain on the other hand was not about to let Germany over run there country.
