Enlightened Thinkers: Justice
When speaking of justice, many ideas come to mind. The most prevalent of them being that no one should be unfairly privileged over another. Justice is a microcosm of the human spirit. The basis for this topic has been pondered and written about for centuries. Along with justice comes equality and by that note, freedom. For true justice, all people must enjoy the comfort of equality and for true equality the people of a nation musnt be held under any type of monarchical or oppressive rule, hence they must be free. Our eventual rise to a just society was perpetuated through works written by many different enlightened thinkers. Many people recognized our unalienable right for justice and equality as a natural human birthright. Although, these ideas originally pertained solely to the male gender, eventually, logic and reason led people in the direction of women as well.
One of the first enlightened thinkers to recognize the need for justice and equality was John Locke. In 1689 he wrote Second Treatise of Government. He believed that all men were equal. By that rationale all men were also entitled to justice
