Progressive Era The Progressive Era drastically changed life in the United States and ultimately shaped our current society. The transition from small and medium sized business to big business created conflict between these big corporations and the workers that worked for them. A Very Different Age by Steven Diner gives us great insight into the period of American history that took place between 1890 and 1914. By analyzing different groups of people it seeks to tell the tale of these people, and how they were confronted with and encountered changes brought about “by industrialism, corporate capitalism, progressive reform, and a complex society of large-scale organizations". By doing this Diner gives us an overall understanding of the great “progression” that took place in American life during this time period. The Progressive era starts with the clash of workers and their employers.
