History Of Americans Vs Europeans Unit 1: How different were Americans and Europeans, and why did they mostly clash in their first encounters' There are many reasons these two vastly different groups of people did not meet on good terms. It wasn’t as simple as just having a language barrier or even just having different customs. These two groups were complete opposites in way there societies were developing and how the groups thought they should exist. First the Europeans envisioned there mere existence and ability to survive, on the basis that they must conquer and seek treasures in order to ensure the future of there people. On the opposite end of the spectrum you have the American Indians, who for the majority were simple.
