Africology

Africology Africology is designed to enhance awareness of the significant role of black studies in the academy. Africology is the observed analysis into life histories and life in general of peoples of primary African origin and their descent. In doing so, this will help clear up all rumors about the legitimacy of the discipline. Since the landmark year of 1968 when the first black studies department was created at San Francisco State University. Now at days, it is very unusual for a university not to have an African American department. Some departments go by different names, such as African American studies, black studies, pan- African studies, Africana studies, or afro-American studies and africology. The word africology is more of a cutting edge term for the study of African American studies. As Winston A. Van Horne once said “africology is a name that reflects the universal scope, Tran-generational spread of black studies”. The word africology is slowly being adopted by universities, but some universities considering changing the name of there African American studies department too africology.
