Multi-culturalism
The concept of migration revolves around the idea of movement of people from one place to another. There are many dimensions of migration that involves voluntary and involuntary migration such as slavery, labor recruiting migration and refugees migration. Slavery is a process to dehumanize a particular group of people to better serve their owners. During the process of enslaving, slaves were torn from their inhabitation and sold off to different places depending where their owners were located. This forceful migration can be observed in the case of Africans and Native Americans slavery. Between 14th and late 18th century we saw the Portuguese, Dutch, French and the English dominated the Atlantic slavery. Africans were kidnapped by slave raiders and systematically stocked into slave ships and shipped to the Western countries. As for the Native Americans, they were kidnapped by the whites after Columbus arrived to America. From the lecture, we know that Columbus first thought about the Native Americans was that they would make good slaves.
