How can two societies that are only approximately 200 miles apart and ruled around the same time really differ that much. Well, actually, they can differ quite a bit. The Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations, which were roughly from 1900 B.C. to 1300 B.C., did have some similarities like the elegant detail of their art and how they both evolved to using the class society of nobles down to laborers. But amazingly enough these two cultures were completely different in their architecture, advancement, and their ways of life in general.
Huge, wide open, and on the top of an artificial hillside sat the Palace at Knossos. It was there for everyone to see, with wide open courtyards and no walls guarding the compound. This was where King Minos of the Minoan civilizations lived. They were not trying to hide anything from anybody about where their kings complex was. In the palace there was an unprecedented advanced plumbing system, beautifully decorated walls and paintings, and one of the most intricate designs of a palace ever found.
