Ancient Egypt And The Ottoman Empire There are many difference and similarities between the Ottoman Empire and ancient Egypt. Founded in the thirteenth century, the Ottoman Empire finally fell in the early twentieth century. The ancient Egyptians on the other hand, lasted only a thousand years. I’m going to look at five different parts of their culture, which are government, agriculture, art, science and religion. Government Monarchies, also known as a single person powered government, ruled both the Egyptians and the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman ruler was referred to as a sultan and was acknowledged as the legal successors of Mohammed. The ruler in Egypt was known as a pharaoh and was considered to have a god’s blood. Both the sultan and the pharaoh were the head of the entire empire and military. To protect Egyptians from invasion, or defrates, they held a more steady government that upheld it’s natural boundaries. Agriculture Both of these Middle Eastern cultures need to base their agriculture around a body of water. Along the Nile River were the Egyptians. The Nile River was the base of the Egyptians culture, without it they could not have had a civilization.
