Ebola Virus On Sunday the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that 11 people have indeed died from the incurable Ebola virus in Gabon. Health officials have suspected the virus could have had its outbreak since last week Tuesday where local villagers found a high number of dead primates, including gorillas and chimpanzees. It is likely that the number will rise until the WHO can contain the virus. Health officials and villagers have barricaded the remote forest village to stop the spread of the virus. The outbreak is near the last case of the Ebola virus (1996-1997) in the northeastern province of Ogooue Ivindo, which is near the border of the Republic of Congo, where 45 people died. The virus shows signs of flu-like symptoms (i.e. fever, weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat) with first an incubation time of about four to 10 hours. Soon, severe vomiting and diarrhea follow with rash and both internal and external bleeding.
