Eating Disorders Eating disorders Approximately seven million women across America suffer from eating disorder, such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa (www.phys.com). Most people think the two are closely linked, but they are very different. Anorexia nervosa is, when a woman in not content with her weight and decides to starve herself to reduce it. Bulimia is when a woman indulges herself with food, usually sweets, to relieve stress and then spews her food afterwards because of guilt (www.mentalhelp.net). Six percent of eating disorders in America are life threatening or deadly (www.my.webmd.com). Eating disorders can be caused by a host of different factors, such as: Psychological, Cultural, and Family. When a child’s identity worth in mind, body, soul, and imagination are disregarded or trampled, it causes the child great emotional pain and psychological damage (www.selfhelpmagazine.com). They except the destructive messages poured into them as being true. Because they have been put down at an early age, usually by loved ones, or friends, they believe the world is the same - cruel and judgmental. In result of this, they have an extremely low self-esteem. They feel, ugly, worthless and are never content with their appearance. These people will do anything to try to eating, disorders, women, weight, woman, society, size, image, feel, family, psychological, people, nervosa, ideal, girls, even, because, accepted, whatever, thin, themselves, suggests, study, shape, role, relieve, put, play, percent, messages, loved, herself, food, disorder, different, cultural, content, considered, bulimia, body, being, been, anorexia, america, about, young, wwwselfhelpmagazinecom, wwwphyscom, wwwmywebmdcom, wwwmentalhelpnet
