Autism In Children Autism is a biological disorder in the brain that impairs communication and social skills. The severity of Autism can range from mild to severe. When trying to explain what Autism is some describe it as autistic’s being in their “own world”. Those who have this and have high functioning, see things as “their world” and the “outside world”. Many who are autistic describe what they are experiencing as thinking in pictures. Some actions that happen to those who have autism is the absence or delay of speech and language such as repetition of words. Difficulty relating to other children and adults which may be shown in the absence of eye contact, apparent aloofness, lack of interest in other children, avoidance of physical touching and the indifference to others in distress or pain. An example of this happened when a three year old autistic child and her mother were playing in their back yard and the father was in the front yard. When playing, the mom fell from the swing-set and broke her leg badly. The mom was not able to get up or move and so was unable to get to the autism, children, autistic, others, mom, able, yard, one, child, take, skills, people, pain, out, mild, front, even, disease, broke, around, about, yelling, word, understand, unable, themselves, speak, severe, retardation, playing, play, over, obsessive-compulsive, objects
