Motives Motives In reading about the motive of hunger I have learned that our body has a set weight and a set number of fat cells. As people gain weight they stop eating, lowering the intake of food into their bodies. Grilo & Pogue-Geile (1991) and Keesey (1980) stated that in: The “set-point theory”, if we try to lose weight, it will be difficult to go below the set point, because our bodies interpret the diet as starvation and respond by storing as much food as possible and if we gain weight over time the set point can increase.” Part of the set-point theory may be true to us. Everyone has tried to diet before. You lose the weight you would like, but sooner or later you are back to the starting point again because you eventually put the weight back on. In order to ensure long-term weight loss one must me motivated to follow the tips for dieting. The set-point theory told us “each person had a set body weight”. (Grilo & Pogue-Geile, 1991; Keesey 1980, p. 405) In order to decrease this body weight one must choose the right program for dieting. One of the first tips for dieting is to make up weight, food, body, help, dieting, while, eating, set, need, low, fat, tips, time, must, meal, keep, day, because, take, point, order, one, levels, exercise, yourself, theory, stay, set-point, remember, off, motivated, make, maintain, lose, long-term
