The Relation Of Family And School This is a summation of the published research done by; Stanford M Dornbusch; Kristan Glasgow Erickson; Jennifer Laird; and Carol A Wong on “The relation of family and school attachment to adolescent deviance in diverse groups and communities”. The Journal of Adolescent Research published this work. The purpose of this research is to determine what effect family and school will have on children’s likeliness to perform deviant acts. The main hypotheses was, that the closer the family and school attachment was, the less the adolescent would act out deviant behavior. There were two research groups selected from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescents Health survey. These groups included students in 7th through 12th-grade, over the years including 1994 to 1996. Thirteen-thousand five-hundred and sixty eight adolescents met the criteria need to participate in this study. These students were asked a battery of questions ranging from their family structure and peer groups and how they felt about them, to questions about there personal behavior. The questions that were asked about deviant behavior included cigarette smoking, alcohol use, marijuana smoking, delinquency, and violent behavior.
