Senate Race 2002
As the 2002 New Jersey Senate Race arrives, voters must decide whether they will be voting for Republican candidate Douglas Forrester or Democratic candidate Frank Lautenberg. In order for voters to make an intelligent decision, they most know where each candidate stands on the important issues. Though each candidate has a strong opinion and good points on each issue, each voter must decide who they agree with.
One of the first important issues in this election is US defense. Each candidate has good points on the issue. Douglas Forrester believes that the most important function of the federal government is to provide a strong national defense. He believes that we should all support President Bush in his call for sensible increases in military spending. We need new weapons and strategies to fight our new enemies. The military needs money to fund research and development, replace aging equipment, and support a good quality of life for our soldiers.
Senator Lautenberg has led many efforts to make Americans more secure. He voted for defense increases more than 20 times his last five years in the Senate.
Lautenberg has also been a leader against terrorism. He wrote the law
