Democracy In Crisis Because of the terrorist attacks of September eleventh and other recent events, top United States officials are now seeking legislation to reinforce the national security of the country. The court granted the Department of Justice power to intensify their spying efforts on American citizens and foreign nationals in the United States. Under the new act, which is known as the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, Department of Justice lawyers will now have a much easier time applying for warrants to spy on suspected terrorists.
