Budget Sheriffs Department Under the Sheriffs department budget I found it really interesting in how must the budget had changed since last year. With the need for a new School Resource Officer (SRO) a large amount of the budget was affected by it. Though most of the finances were covered by the grant for the SRO lots of changes where made to accommodate for the officer. For instance with the new officer the Sheriff needed to provide a vehicle and a salary of $33,787. The grant covered not all the expenditures but was spread out enough to cover at least 35% on most things needed for the officer. Another thing I found out was that SLED was mandating a computer support system in all patrol cars that would control and observe sex offenders in the area; it is an increase of about $22,000. In Victims assistance under the Sheriffs department, I learned a couple neat things about our Sheriffs department. Like that the Sheriffs department every year sets out for a grant in their travel fund for $535 so that four families can travel to Columbia for Victims week.
