Spain Spain is a country that holds a rich heritage and uniqueness. Spain is located in the southwestern Europe, bordering it are the Bay of Biscay, the Mediterranean Sea, the Northern Atlantic Ocean, and the Pyrenees Mountains, southwest of France. The estimated population of Spain is 40,037,995. The largest city in Spain, which is also the countries capital, Madrid has a population of the city alone of 5,050,000. ( which has a est. population of 714,148) In the 15th century the year 1469 the marriage of Ferdinand II and Isabella I took the Muslims out of Spain, and the religion to be practiced was Roman Catholicism, and to this day that is where the religion stands. The Jews were expelled from Spain in the year 1492, and the Muslims in 1502. Spain became very wealthy by taking over countries such as the conquest of Peru and Mexico by Pizzaro and Cortez. The monetary units that are used in Spain are the peseta and euro.
