Canada Canada is located north of the United States and is the largest country in land size in the Western Hemisphere. Canada is a land of vast distances and rich natural resources. It has a population of about thirty-one million people. Canada is a bilingual country with English and French as the two official languages. Canada has ten provinces and three territories. Extending to the timberline farther to the north, is the humid sub-arctic climate with short summers and snow cover for about half the year. On the Arctic Archipelago and the northern mainland is the tundra with permafrost. Canada’s coastline is very long and irregular.
