Baja Baja California or Mexico some people like to say was not always a peninsula. Between four point five million years and five million years ago there was not Sea of Cortez. The sea of Cortez is the body of water that separates Mexico from Baja California. Scientist believe it was connected to Mexico witch is why some people refer to it as Baja Mexico. Baja California is about eight hundred miles long. It is one of the largest peninsula in the world. The three peninsulas that are larger than Baja California are Antarctic, Malay, and Kamchatka’s peninsulas. Baja California’s with is not very wide the narrowest part of Baja is twenty-six miles wide. In some astronomers eyes Baja California is “one of the most striking geological features on Earth.” Baja’s narrow size is not the only small part of it Baja also has very petite mountains. The highest mountain in Baja is named Picacho Del Diablo, witch means Devils Peak, is only 10,152 feet on one peak and 10,154 feet on the other. There is also a group of mountain ranges at about two thousand feet in height that go down some of the coast of Baja.
