Parenthood PARENTHOOD (PG 13) In the film industry it is not a common theme to leave a family in discord. They try to come up with some type of peace or change among families. The film entitled "Parenthood", is one of these films. Nevertheless, among this family system, the subsystem of focus left a great deal of room for us to work with. Helen Buckman is a single mother working hard to support her family. Her husband abandoned them, leaving her to pick up the pieces. It is apparent to Helen that her children are struggling, and isn't quite sure how to reach her children. Helen is struggling with knowing how or desiring to completely disengage from her ex-husband. Her husband had hurt her a great deal when he left. She has been encouraged to date her son's biology teacher, however, hesitated a great deal. In the end of this film she decides to go for it. Julie is a seventeen year old girl with a lot of spunk. She is sexually involved in her mother's home while her mother is home. Once her mother finds out she leaves the home with her boyfriend. After fighting with him she returns home.
