Orson Welles Final Exam Throughout the year we have studied numerous films and their creators. All of the films that we have observed have their reasons for being memorable, yet one film in particular seems to stand out more than the rest. The reason why this certain film stands out is because of its director and his innovations in filmmaking. The film is Citizen Kane and the director that is so highly recognized is Orson Welles. Many directors have used certain techniques and camera work used by Welles in Citizen Kane since then. One movie, that was in theatres over the summer, which uses some of the same techniques popularized by Welles in Citizen Kane, is Big Fish. Big Fish was directed by Tim Burton and was a big box office hit. To the untrained eye these two movies may seem like they have nothing in common, yet after realizing the techniques used by Welles, they seem more similar than one may think. The film Citizen Kane is one of which that we have viewed in class and the plot of the movie is well known. Yet, Big Fish is a motion picture that may not have been viewed by all.
