Although to some extent it is inevitable, the phenomenon of misunderstanding has long been the focus in international news report and it has played a negative role in the international relation for reasons of culture, national interest and ideology. As international news report is playing a more and more important role in the international arena nowadays, it is of vital theoretical and practical significance to investigate misunderstanding in international news report. This thesis focuses on misunderstanding in international news report to make accurate and scientific understanding of it. This thesis tries to analyze misunderstanding in international news report through the way of case study and interview. It gets some effects brought by misunderstanding in international news report and puts forward some countermeasures for such phenomenon.

1. Introduction介绍

We are in the age of global communication. Communication between different countries is becoming more and more frequent and important. In this mode of information exchange, misunderstanding in international news report, as an inevitable obstacle to information exchange and communication links between different countries, is catching people's eyes. International news report, which acts an important role in modern communications of culture and businesses in the international arena, can cause distorted understanding and deepen the conflicts and divergences of different countries when it is misreading international news intentionally or unconsciously (Allison, 1986). Such event is not rare in our society and they have caused serious consequences in the international arena.

The aim of this thesis is trying to analyze the phenomenon of misunderstanding in international news report through case study and interviews with people in the journalism. What are the effects of international news report and what are the reasons for it? Is it really inevitable as some scholars declared? What can we do to get rid of this dilemma or just ease this situation? International news report is the important way for different country in our world to communicate with each other. It can connect each country together by positive reports or segregate each country by negative reports, so it is worthwhile to study the misunderstanding in international news report to promote the harmonious environment in the international community.
