Having studied accounting in Green River Community College for three years, I have been given access to comprehensive training and knowledge in accounting. Actually, my interest in accounting stemmed from my childhood experience because my father was an accountant when he first started working and that is one of the most important reasons why I am now applying for your accounting post-graduate program, hoping to equip myself with more advanced and practical accounting knowledge and philosophy. Besides, I feel accounting will provide me with a steady career path in the financial world that could lead on to other related fields such as investment banking or financial analysis. 

As I grew up, my passion for studying accounting became even stronger. Rather than confining myself to textbook knowledge only, I have taken the initiative to expand my horizons through extensive accounting books reading including magazines, articles, newspapers and internet. Consequently, my view was broadened in relation to the latest and most advanced accounting knowledge and theories. I am always trying my best to overcome every difficulty in front of me for success, and I really enjoy the happiness from achievement and the recognition of my work. Never yielding to difficulties either in academic study or in my daily life can be considered as my key character.

During the three years in Green River Community College, I was also so curious to learn the relationship between the knowledge and normal life. For instance, in the course Basic Accounting, I was once asked to make an account of a shop and design a table to evaluate the shop’s income and cost. I could not make up a shop that didn’t actually exist and make up many fake data, so I chose a shop near my apartment and did a small research and then designed a table. Through this homework, I found that my table can help the shop owners to figure out how the shop worked out during the past three months so that they could improve and make better profit in the future. There are so many important connections between accounting and normal life, which strengthen the determination of my further study in accounting. 

My GPA in Green River Community College is 3.26/4, and it should be able to reach 3.4/4 at the end of this semester. I got pretty good grades in all courses in college which means I have a very firm foundation for my further accounting courses. I have also decided to get an AMIA certificate after graduation from college, and this is just the first step of my dream of becoming an accountant. Besides accounting, I devoted considerable time to learning such subjects as law and economics because I think these two subjects have close relationship with accounting. 

My English proficiency will no doubt help me as I conduct and engage in exchange with American professionals. During the past three years in Seattle, my English has improved a lot and there are no obstacles in the daily communication in life and class now. With intense interest in English, I read various English papers and magazines when I was a freshman and I always insist on practicing oral English, English writing and listening with local American classmates. I think I already prove to have the ability to familiarize myself with new culture and adapt to the English-speaking country. Beside, during the past three years, being a Chinese, an Asian, I have also done something for the multi-polarization of the American culture. 

Outside school, I have many interests and hobbies. One of my favorite interests is listening to music. Since three years ago, I got the access to all kinds of music in America, such as blues, funk, rock and country music. Although I do not know how to play an instrument or how to make new songs, I enjoy singing songs and taking part in music evenings with my friends so that I could be part of the team to produce fully structured songs. 

I choose to apply University of Washington on Tacoma because the ranking of the business school is quite good and many of my friends have succeeded applying this university. What’s more, I have been studying in Seattle for three years and all things in the city have been familiar to me so that I do not want to move to another city. In my further graduate study, I wish to focus on my studies and research on auditing, particularly in relation to audit risk, auditor’s decision-making, ethics of auditing. I have heard of University of Washington while I was still a freshman and I know its accounting program is marked by selectivity and excellence. I hope that by studying in your program, I will be able to build on my academic record so far for a promising career in the future.
