The more sophisticated an activity goes, the more controls for the credit it needs. Bad debts are unavoidable when more credit is extended; usually the staff usually asks the customers to fill out the credit application forms. However, that is far from enough, the credit department requires orders from the sales department, and the shipping manager has to see the credit stamp from the credit department before shipping out any actual items on the order. Both the shipping manager and the credit department should carry a copy of the stamped form to avoid fake stamp.

When the order volume increases, more strict credit policies should be applied. Firstly, collection goal such as bad debt limit should be set up; the metrics should be able to measure the performance of the credit department. Secondly, supporting policy should be planned to support the main policy, the supporting policies should be able to support any alternation and innovation in company activities. Thirdly, standardize credit policy as much as possible. Last but not the least; the company must investigate the unanswered questions on the application.

When transaction volume to such a high level that computer must be engaged to process the activities, Limits and metrics can be set in the computer, credit stamps are not necessary because the computer can process it, computer can use flag with password belonging to the authorized person. In addition, in order to create tighter control with computer, companies use computer to initiate more investigation the high transaction customers. Computer can also provide with credit agency report with orders from other websites and agencies.
