It is a great honor for me to be a candidate for the National Honor Society which gains its long-term reputation for pushing its members to the fullest of their potential. Within my knowledge, to be enrolled in the society, full-round development is greatly focused on, taking five aspects into consideration, namely, scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship.

I have been dedicated to study during my academic years, which contributes to my GPA of 3.8. it is cumulative and non-weighted. It meets the minimal requirement of applying for the society. In my academic performance, I am keen on English writing and history, which empowers me to think critically and give a large horizon over the world.

I am active in the organization of some activities in my class. Once the head teacher’s birthday was coming soon, I came up with the idea of celebrating his birthday in the classroom. Then I invited some students to form a leadership group. The task for everyone was clearly distributed. One was burdened with choosing some gifts and raising funds among students, another two with activities coordination, and I bore the responsibility as a host and coordinator during the process. We enjoyed the surprise party that night, and everyone song praise of my leadership in the organization.

In terms of service to school and community, I am proud of what I have achieved. In School, I am in charge of study. Those who feel it difficult to catch up with teachers turn to me for help. Honestly, whenever I help them solve questions, I could feel a sense of satisfaction in my heart, which also motivates my progress in study. In community, when I was in Grade 10, I did a volunteer job in the nursing homes. I talked to some old people there and accompanied them for a walk. The old people sometimes feel lonely as their children could not live with them. As the old man shared his memories with me, I could feel how eager the old people are to have someone to listen to. I just did nothing but listened. The experience with the old people also enlarged my eyes about the past life. When I was in Grade 11, I came to a kindergarten as a volunteer. There I enjoyed a good time with a lot of innocent and energetic kids. We joined in a lot of activities, like hide-and-seek. A good time with children could refresh and revitalize my mind and body. Whether in school or in community, offering service to others does not only give me a pleasure of helping others, but also motivate my progress.

My parenting education stresses importance of being an honest man. In my childhood, my father immersed me in the faith of being an honest and a man of his words. As I gradually grew up, I further realized how lucky I was as keeping faith in honesty. I saw so many people suffering from dishonesty. Dishonesty may earn you some temporary profits, but in the long run, it will ruin people’s faith in you.

It is my sincere hope that my experience, scholarship and character could qualify myself for the membership of the society, which holds greatly significantly to me. Whether I could achieve success in the application, it is my promise to strive hard in academic performance and service to others.
