Raising a child could be an important issue in the parents’ life so it is important for both parents to discover how it is possible to raise their children the right way. In fact, some people argue that it is important for both parents to take equal responsibility in raising a child. For example, they argue that if the mother is in charge of feeding the baby at night, the father needs to do the job of helping the baby to fall asleep so they want parents to take equal responsibility in raising a child.

However, in my opinion, I do not think it is necessary to measure how much responsibility a mother should take and how much left for a father. Firstly, taking care of a baby is both the duty of a father as well as a mother but I believe that a father’s role is more important than a mother when the child has grown up. However, when the child is still a little baby, a mother’s role is more important than a dad because it was the first stage of a child in which he or she needs to feel the love and affection of a baby.

In China, there is a saying which means that when a child is less than 3 years old, what he does and what kind of person he is at that time directly affects him to be the kind of person that he will be later when he is old. As a result, a mother needs to make sure that baby feels satisfied  by feeding him on time as well as carefully observing if the baby is happy or not. Some people say that at the first stage of a baby, both mother and father should take the same responsibility. However, I think that counting how much responsibility a partner should take is a kind of selfish behavior. It is indeed true that both of them should assume responsibilities but for many parents, they think of their own personal benefits too much that they do not take decisions for the babies’ benefits. For example, I knew a woman who has a baby of three months old right now and she made a pact with her husband saying that each of them should wake up every other night to feed their baby. However, one night when her husband had worked over time for too long and he could not wake up to feed the baby. At the time, the mother woke him up and they ended up having a fight and the baby could not fall asleep that night.

Obviously, being a parent means that a person should not count how much time he or she lost or spends on the baby because it is a huge responsibility which requires a person to be selfless. What is more, I think that a father’s role is more important than that of the mother when a child is older than 3years old. Usually, mothers tend to be too soft and weak but father is more persistent and independent. In this way, a father could teach his child to become more confident and brave. Also, when a child is growing up, he or she needs to learn many skills such as riding a bike or swimming and in these activities, they might face danger. Therefore, a father can surely protect a child better as men are stronger. Therefore, I think in different stages, fathers and mothers should take different responsibility in helping the child to grow up better instead of sharing the equal duties.
