Formal Education,Informal Education,澳洲代写,paper代写,美国作业代写

When it comes the word “formal”, we may think of another word “non-formal” apart from the word “informal”. Before analyzing the differences between formal and informal education, it is necessary to distinguish the differences existing in the three words(formal, non-formal and informal). According to Oxford Dictionary, “formal” denotes a conventionally recognized form, structure, or set of rules. As for “informal”, it implies a relaxed, friendly, or unofficial style, manner, or nature. While, “non-formal” denotes a relaxed or informal style or nature. In view of these definitions, we may find “non-formal” has the similar meaning with “informal”, both of which are the antonym of “formal”. However, when “informal” or “non-formal”integrates with education, does it mean informal education is the same as non-formal education, and both of them are the opposite of formal education? In this paper, the author will focus on distinguishing the difference between the concept of “formal education” and “informal education. Before executing the detailed analysis, it is necessary to figure out the difference between “informal education” and non-formal education”. What is more, faced with the serious competitions of talents due to globalization, some detailed strategies about the different types of education are proposed so as to improve the holistic quality of education and accommodate with the social development.

Difference existing in the concept in Informal education and non-formal education

When it comes to non-formal education, to be brief, we can define it as a type of education which not is organized by education institutions. It is contrary with formal education. While, it is an organized, systematic activity that supplies some trainings for the children and adults. For instance, it contains on-the-job training, extension education, continuing education and so on. In order to deepen the understanding of this type of education, a common example will be used to illustrate it as follows. A white-collar worker has worked in a famous company for many years. Though she gets a decent salary and tempting incentives on her job, she is content to stand still and wants to get a higher education from a well-known university. However, she has no time to support her further study on campus. Thus, she choose remote continuing education from Toronto University online. The education she receives belongs to non-formal education. Whereas, as for informal education, based on the definition for “informal” from Oxford Dictionary, we can explain the “informal education” as a type of non-official, non-organized, unconscious and unsystematic education. Compared with “non-formal education”, it is common and inevitable in people’s daily life. Besides, it has a great impact on people’s social cognitiveability. Many detailed forms of this type of education are developed around us. For instance, reading books or newspapers, watching TV or films, interpersonal communication belong to informal education. Each individual plays a critical role in the society and pick up what he or she needs from this type of education. Based on the detailed form of informal education, it is easier to distinguish the differences between the two types of education. The essential difference existing in the two types of education is whether it is organized, systematic or not. However, it is confusing from the explicit definitions of the two words “informal” and “non-formal”.

Analysis about formal education

Apart from the two types of education we have discussed above, formal education plays a vital role in the cultivation of one’s professional skills and cognitive capacity. So it is necessary to develop and perfect the present formal education. However, what is the formal education? Compared with non-formal education and informal education, we can define it as an official type of education which is organized by educational institutes or governments. Whilst, it is systematic and owns a comparatively complete system. Standard schoolhouses and educational equipment are fundamental, which provide a good environment for the students. As for the detailed examples of formal education, we may find them easily around us. For instance, a child of the right age may be sent to the primary school to receive some basic studies. Then when he grows up, he may obtain his education form the high school. After that, he may enter a university to get a higher education. All what he receives belong to formal education. However, we should notice that we do not emphasize the difference between public and private formal education. To be brief, formal education consists of public and private formal education. Besides, a typical feature of formal education is often non-profit. It always aims to enlarge the impact of education on the majority of the public so as to improve the total quality of the public. Meanwhile, the quality of formal education depends on the support not only from the government or the education institutes, but from the public.

Harmonious development of different types of education

With the development of globalization, the competitions become more and more serious. Thus, it is significantly necessary for one country or individual to pay more attention to the education. In the new period, how to address the issue of developing the three types of education harmoniously seems more urgent. For sake of accelerate the pace of education reformation, various types of education are needed and should be given more space to develop freely. The detailed strategies are listed as follows. First, formal education should concentrate on imparting the students the basic knowledge or skills. Beside, more opportunities are given to the students to develop or cultivate themselves freely in their leisure time. Basic guidance and encouragement are the main trend of formal equation. So the relevant government or education institutes should provide enough funds or looser policy to support the development of formal education. Second, as for non-formal education, more normalized standards should be set to improve its educational level. Meanwhile, some perspectives about the future labor market are required so as to make a practical plan for its development. What is more, as a supplement of formal education, non-formal education should focus on imparting some professional trainings or skills in order to make the learners get what they want in short time. Third, when it comes to informal education, considering various detailed forms of it, the government should advocate its importance and encourage the public to strengthen self-learning. Besides, some non-profit organizations can execute some interesting activities to attract the public to join themselves in. Under that case, can the public will get more which cannot be from formal education. For instance, the public can develop a good habit of reading and gain what they want in real time. What is more, more useful and practical information can be gathered by the publishers which can be recommended for the public. With the strategies listed above, the three types of education can develop freely and harmoniously.

Conclusion

Based on the aforementioned analysis about three types of education including formal education, non-formal education and informal education, we can find formal education and non-formal education are official, organized and systematic. And non-formal education is often as the supplement or extension of formal education. While, informal education is contrary with the two former types of education. Various forms of informal education, including reading books or newspapers, watching TV or films and so on, emphasize the importance of self-learning which can be seen as the main spirit of informal education. Though many differences exist among the three types of education, considering the serous competitions due to globalization, the harmonious development of them seems more significant necessary. Therefore, looser policies and normalized standards are required to guide their development so as to accommodate with the social demands.
