After the 2008 ?nancial crisis, the Spanish economy is severely affected, and Various industries are looking for a way to cope with the financial crisis. Strategic responses of the Spanish hospitality sector to the ?nancial crisis investigates the impact on the Spanish hospitality sector after the 2008 Financial Crisis. In this article, through selection of the Madrid hotel was selected as samples. A series of scientific and effective analysis method was used, in order to draw a conclusion that hotel should focus on quality, branding What’s more a reliance on loyal customers and increasing marketing can counteract the crisis. However, whether the analysis method is correct or not, needing further discussion. In this essay, it will elaborate from the following several aspects to review the paper: the purpose of the study, the research methods and means, research results and practical value.
Purpose of the study
The research purpose of this article is very clear. It focuses on the Spanish hospitality sector after the 2008 Financial Crisis. As is known to all, the 2008 financial crisis have a serious impact on the whole industry in Europe. According to information, the Spanish hospitality sector has a large proportion of the economy in Spain, at the same time it is also the biggest impact industry in Spain. The author analyze the impact of the Spanish hospitality sector and, we can learn the whole economic situation of Spain. The study of the causes of decline in hotel occupancy can help analyze the cause of other industry profits decline. The solution to help the Spanish hospitality sector in the face of the financial crisis can play a guiding role for other industries out of the financial crisis. From what has been discussed above, the aim of the study is very realistic and instructional. From the perspective of choosing the research object，the authors choose the Spanish hospitality sector which is the core of the Spanish economy and is representative.
The reliability of the analytical method
Analysis of the research methods and means of this article will obtain from the following several aspects. First of all is the theory to support the study. The author referred to a large number of literature, and reasoned some conclusions from these document. First, Hotels having a strong brand image, having high quality show better financial performance during a crisis than other hotels. Second, the crisis had an immediate negative impact on the performance of individual companies. Third, a loyal customer base affects performance positively during a crisis.4Proactive measures taken to cope with the crisis influence performance positively. The above conclusion provides a theoretical basis for the author's research, and those conclusions also points out the direction of further investigation. But the is conclusion correct or not, can be used for the Spanish hotel management or not, can help Spanish hospitality sector solve the problems and challenges in the economic crisis or not? The solution of these questions needs to be found from Spanish hospitality sector’s reality. In order to achieve this goal, the author began research the second part - methodology. In this part firstly the author carried on the Sample and data collection and then carried on data analysis and results. Objectively speaking, the study is unique in the aspect that it surveyed the entire Madrid population of hotels and almost 70% of the hotels questioned took part in the research. This makes the survey data has very strong comprehensiveness and reliability. Choose Madrid rather than other cities of Spain because Madrid serves as sampling unit since tourism comprises a significant part of its local industry. As everyone knows that Tourism and hotel industry is closely linked, so the selection of the sample is with reliability and representative. Choosing the representative citie’s hotels rather than the hotels all across the country, so the sample size is appropriate—not too big or too small. The Sample size is appropriate. SubsequentlySecondly , it comes to the date analysis and result. This research is conducted as a descriptive analysis. Two factorial analyses of the items identified in the previous literature and addressed as part of the present study quantify the impact of the crisis and the measures taken to address it. The author Kerstin analyzed from two aspects, the first one is the factors affected by impact of the crisis, the second one is the factors resulting from measures taken to deal with the crisis. This Kerstin’s method of analysis is comprehensive, and the methods are chosen appropriate for the purpose of the study. Aimed at the effects of the economic crisis, the author analyzes the results from measures taken to deal with the crisis. This makes the analysis is more targeted, and has more guiding significance of reality.
Research results and practical value
The following conclusions are drawn in the end: This study on Spanish hotel sector provides valuable information for hotel managers. In crisis periods, a strong brand, high quality and loyal customer base maintain good performance. In addition, immediate measures to counter the crisis should be proactive. Cost-cutting, which often is an immediate response to a crisis, should be avoided to prevent erosion of the hotel’s future competitive position.  In general I am agree with this conclusion, because the researcher based on the literature, and chosen a targeted sample, and given the appropriate sample size, finally made a scientific analysis. The results of the article mean a lot for the industry, and the wider community. First of all, it help the Spanish hospitality sector know how to cope with the financial crisis, secondly, it has guiding effect to Spain's tourism development, finally it helps each industry in Spanish how to survival the economic crisis.
Advantages and disadvantages
As for the advantages and disadvantages of this article, advantages have the following a few: firstly, the investigation has literature support. Subsequently, the research sample is well chosen, and then, the analysis method is effective. Finally, the results have guiding significance. But there are some deficiencies in the research process. First of all, the influence of the season for tourism passed into silence. Since summer is the peak tourist season in Spain, in summer hotel frontal average revenue is far higher than other seasons. Subsequently the difference between different types of hotel does not take into account. Some are business hotel but some are tourist hotel, and the economic crisis impact on business and travel are much different. But overall the research is very valuable.
